SLDC serves the most vulnerable population of special needs students who predominantly are identified as having moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorders
and/or Intellectual Disabilities Disorders, although many have multiple neurological conditions that may include Down syndrome,
brain disorders, and seizures, and speech/vision/hearing impairments. Many of our students communicate via a device and picture icons as their only voice.
Our dedicated staff are working furiously to create platforms to connect to our students so they too can access their education to the best of our
mutual abilities via software platforms. Creating an on-line alternative curriculum for the population we serve will require more devices,
so each student has access, as well as software and hardware upgrades so we have the
capacity for our teachers and therapists to provide services from a distance.
We are asking for your assistance in acquiring the devices and the technology needed to connect with our students.
