SLDC Lion's Roar - September 22, 2020

Dear SLDC Families,

I hope this finds you all well and staying healthy.

Please save the date for our Virtual Back to School Night on Thursday, October 8th at 5:30pm.  More information will be sent out soon!

We wanted to remind everyone that Tuesday is our school spirit day! We'd like to encourage all students and staff to wear their favorite SLDC shirt or school color (blue) every Tuesday.  Whether you are coming to campus next week or attending virtually, remember to show your SLDC school spirit every Tuesday!

Below you will find important dates to add to your calendar, new information for the parents of our students who will be starting our Hybrid Program next week, a link to our re-opening plan on our website, a link to our school calendar, distance learning information, and an update from the APE department.

Sincerely,

Jenny O’Grady - SLDC Principal/Director of Education

Hybrid Program Information (New Information) -

We are still planning to safely re-open our campus with our Hybrid Program next week!

As a reminder, Mondays will remain 100% distance learning for all students. In addition to distance learning, teachers will be checking in with all students to ensure they are all on track for a successful week, be it 100% virtually or participating in our Hybrid Model.

Our Blue Cohort will be on-campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays - 8:30-2:35.

Our Red Cohort will be on-campus on Wednesdays and Fridays - 8:30-2:35.

Please be advised that in an effort to accommodate reduced classroom sizes, paraprofessional staffing, and transportation needs, we will not be able to accommodate requests to change cohort assignments. We appreciate your support as we do our best to create as smooth and safe transition back to school for everyone as we are able.

Student Temperature Check/Health Screening:

All students will be required to have their temperature taken and a health screening prior to entering an SLDC van or our SLDC campus.   We will be taking the student’s temperatures with no contact thermometers either on their forehead or wrist. Parents will then be asked a series of questions to assess our student's potential COVID-19 symptoms or exposure ahead of their entry to SLDC.

Student Drop-off/Pick-up areas will look a little different:

Parent Drop-off and Pick-up – All students who are transported to and from school by a parent/guardian will be dropped off and picked up in the South Parking Lot, located near our Occupational Therapy wing.  You will be directed to enter the health screening line where you’ll eventually be greeted by an SLDC staff member.  Your child’s temperature will be taken and health screening questions will be asked.  We are asking that parents and students remain inside their car while we are conducting the temperature check and health screening.  Once cleared, you’ll be directed to where you can safely drop-off your child with a paraprofessional.  The South Parking lot will be the only place you are able to drop-off and pick-up your son or daughter.  There will no longer be a student drop-off and pick-up area in our North Parking Lot.

If your son or daughter will be dropped off late or needs to leave early, we ask that you check them in or sign them out in our front office.
